Our three Steering Committees unite in-house governance leaders who are ready to challenge the status quo, redefine professional standards, and make governance a driver of long-term impact.
Strong governance brings clarity, control, and confidence to every stage.
Why the
Committees Exist
Governance won’t change itself.
That’s why we’ve created three Steering Committees under the Governance with Grit banner. Each one focuses on a critical area where governance needs to be bolder, clearer, and more connected to real-world outcomes:
Elevating the profession’s public voice
Raising the bar on education and readiness
Strengthening governance’s standing within our organisations
These committees are where principle meets practice, where ideas become action, and where change is steered with grit.
The Three Steering Committees
The Voice of
Governance Committee
Championing how our profession is seen, heard, and valued
Governance is too often overlooked beyond the boardroom. This committee focuses on raising the external profile of our profession, positioning governance as a leadership discipline that underpins trust, innovation, and long-term success.
If you’re ready to take governance beyond the back office and into the public conversation, this is your table.
Raising the
Bar Committee
Reimagining governance education and professional standards
The skills needed for real-world impact go far beyond what traditional qualifications cover. This committee explores how we equip the next generation — and current professionals — with the confidence, context, and capability to lead.
From CGIUK&I designations to early-career development, this is for those passionate about shaping the future of the profession.
Growth Through
Governance Committee
Strengthening the voice and value of governance from within
Good governance is a catalyst for growth. This committee focuses on elevating the internal profile of Company Secretaries — building capability, commercial fluency, and executive presence so governance sits at the heart of strategic leadership.
If you believe the CoSec role should shape direction, not sit adjacent to it, this is your space.
Who Can Join?
Membership is by application or peer nomination. We’re building action-oriented spaces, not passive discussion groups — so we review every application to make sure each committee stays focused, credible, and ready to lead.
If you’re committed to driving real change and want to contribute your experience and voice, we’d love to hear from you.
Commitment
Steering Committee membership requires attendance at approximately two hours of remote meetings per quarter. These are voluntary, unpaid roles, and an active commitment and willingness to contribute is mandatory.
This is not a talking shop. Each committee is action-oriented, with members expected to shape initiatives, influence outcomes, and help turn ideas into tangible progress.
Subsidiary Governance: A Framework for Groups and Their Directors
Subsidiary governance is the system through which a group oversees and supports its subsidiary companies while enabling each company’s directors to fulfil
