Governance Consultant

Sean is a versatile and experienced governance professional with 18 years of varied experience in a wide range of sectors including local government, public sector corporations, charities as well as the highly regulated financial services sector including the Lloyd’s Market. Sean’s most recent experiences include managing the Secretariat for a Lloyds Managing Agent and working on general company secretarial work and a global asset manager.

Experience

Sean started his governance career in the Legal & Democratic Services team at Southwark Council in 2006 looking after the governance process across several council departments transitioning into the Financial Services sector in 2019. Sean has been an Assistant Company Secretary since 2019 with roles at Nest Pensions, Arthur Gallagher, Vitality, Sirius Point and most recently JP Morgan Asset Management. He has experience of managing company secretarial functions in the financial sector as well as board management, board and committee evaluations, director onboarding and training. Sean’s most recent experience involved a group-wide entity rationalisation project for global asset manager.

Board & Committee Support

Sean has over his 18 years produced packs via Diligent, Boardvantage and ModernGov for over one thousand Boards, committees, forums and hearings as well as producing the minutes for almost all of these meetings. In recent roles Sean ran the secretariat for SiriusPoint UK managing 60+ Boards and committees for Sirius Point Managing Agent, Syndicate 1945 and other SiriusPoint entities in the UK.

Subsidiary Governance

Sean recently managed a project to strike-off and rationalise several subsidiaries as a global asset manager, as well as ensuring the compliance with Companies House requirements for subsidiaries of JP Morgan, Vitality, Sirius Point and Arthur Gallagher.

Board Pack Efficiency

Sean managed the transition from paper to electronic packs, minutes and declarations for a large local authority and provided training to his team and the elected officials.

Coaching & Training and Board Evaluation

Sean has provided director training for a number of new and existing directors either as annual refreshers or as part of INED onboarding.  Sean carried out the Board effectiveness reviews for a number of boards at Nest Pensions, Vitality and Sirius Point and this included the committee reviews and annual terms of reference reviews. Sean produced the Minutes Policy & Procedure at Arthur Gallagher for use across the UK entities.
